Behind the Mirror

Lately, in most of my classes we have gotten on the topic of the past. We were analyzing a character in a novel. The author gave some background information on the character as a child for us to understand the “why” behind the character’s actions. We were then presented with the question:

Can you really let go of your past?

I believed that your past does not matter. What happened happened, and we move on from each situation. But having that belief will only leave us spinning in circles.

I still believe that your past mistakes do not define you, but they do hold a role in shaping who you are; whether or not you bounced back. Your past helps shape and define who you are today.

How will you act now to define yourself tomorrow?
